Application to the NCCOB ($67.50 application fee, plus the cost of the credit report ($8) and criminal history record check (SBI-$14, FBI-$24) totaling $113.50 payable by Visa or Mastercard). Note: Please check with your local law enforcement agency regarding fees and scheduling. Some law enforcement agencies charge a small fee, usually $10-$15, for fingerprinting.
Education Requirements and Testing Before applying for a Mortgage Loan Officer License, an individual must have: Completed a Mortgage Lending Fundamentals course approved by NCCOB, within the three-year period immediately preceding the date of the application and passed the NC Mortgage Loan Officer Test at an official testing center. The state exam is given at PSI Testing Centers. For locations or to register for the exam, go to their website at: www.psiexams.com Background Investigations Applicants are subject to investigations of their criminal, civil, educational, employment/business and credit histories. Applicants should obtain a fingerprint card and authority for release of information form from the testing center, take it to a local law enforcement agency to have their fingerprints made. Applicants must enclose the fingerprint card with their fingerprints on it, the Authority for Release of Information form (consenting to a state and national criminal history record check) with the application, and pay for the actual cost of conducting the criminal and credit investigations. Providing your social security number is mandatory and authorized under the provisions of NCGS Chapter 53 in order to conduct these investigations.
